Public
Railroad property is private property. For your safety please do not trespass on railroad property including tracks, rail yards, and railroad equipment. Much of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad's line traverses farm land which is private property. If you would like to take pictures and/or videos of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad, please photograph from public property such as the shoulder of a public road or public sidewalk.
Safety at Railroad Crossings: Use caution at all railroad crossings. Never stop on the tracks. A message from the City of Santa Maria and Santa Maria Valley Railroad.
Excursions: Due to the increase in freight traffic, the Santa Maria Valley Railroad no longer offers public excursions. We recommend the Filmore and Western Railroad located in Filmore, CA for
wonderful dinner excursions, daytime lunch excursions, and special events. They can be reached at 805-524-2546 or www.fwry.com. The 32-mile Filmore and Western Railroad features vintage railcars and equipment, delicious meals, wonderful scenery, and is known as the "movie train railroad" where many railroad scenes are filmed for movies, TV shows, and commercials.
